    Starting on March 26th Sanskriti School will be offering Culture enrichment classes between 11am and noon during the Culture hour.  These classes are designed to offer our children an intensive, hands-on exposure to various sports, carrom, cooking, music, dance, art & craft forms with the intent of giving them a flavor and appreciation of our rich Indian culture.

    Children can sign up for one (8 week) or two (4 week) sessions.  The last day of school (June 11th) will include a showcase of what the children have learned in enrichment.  Some items will even be displayed or showcased at the Indian Mela on June 11th in Livingston.

    Sanskriti of NJ will hold it's annual India Fest at the West Essex YMCA grounds at 321 South Livingston Avenue, Livingston, NJ. As always, admission is FREE

    ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

    Amrish Mishra:

    Gifted with a resonating, melodious and silky voice, Amrish Mishra is an 'A' grade ghazal singer from All India Radio and is on the reference panel of artists of ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations).

    A disciple of Pt. Rajan & Pt. Sajan Misra for Hindustani Classical music, he has polished his 'Ghazal Gayaki'  under the guidance of the Ghazal legend Late sh. Jagjit Singh ji

    Amrish is a very versatile singer with a large repertoire of Geets, Ghazals etc and has enthralled the listeners all over the world

    Dr. Sanjay Saxena

    Sanjay Saxena started learning the Tabla when he was six years old. He learnt under the tutelage of Pandit Omkar Prasad, Ustad Sheikh Dawood Khan Saheb, and Ustad Shabbir Nisar. He has a mastery over Delhi, Lucknow, Ajrada, and Farooquabad Gharanas. Sanjay achieved dizzying heights when he was a teenager, becoming one of the youngest Tabla artists to be graded by All India Radio. When TV was first introduced in India, he had the honor of being invited to perform on Doordarshan regularly. He has performed at the world famous Dasheera festival at the Maharaja of Mysore’s Palace.Sanjay has performed with eminent artists of India like Padma Vibhushan, Pandit VG Jog, Pandit Rajeev Taranath, an eminent student of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan Saheb, and many others. In addition he has performed all over the US including international music festivals. He regularly plays for fundraising events in the US. Sanjay plays all genres of music like Classical, Semi-classical, and Kathak with equal ease and felicity.

    Sanjay regularly conducts master classes on rhythms of North India at various universities like Rutgers. Besides teaching tabla, he is an author, as well as the CEO of a technology company that deals with Fortune 500 businesses, the biotech industry, and major universities.

    SANSKRITI INDIA IMMERSION CAMP 2017

    Sanskriti of NJ and Sanskriti School are pleased to announce their 8th Summer Camp. The 2 week camp dates are Aug 14th to 18th & Aug 21st to 25th, 2017. Like every year, we will be independently licensed.

    You have an option of full or half day registration for 1 or both weeks. Although we have a professional staff running the camp, this camp specializes in offering unique activities tied to Indian culture as described below. These special activities are offered by parents & community volunteers. We urge you to make a suggestion for an activity or offer your time if you have a special skill. As such, please volunteer your time for any activity of your choice by making a selection at registration. Thank you.

    Registration: Registration is now open (Early bird discount ends May 31st)

    Registrations after Jul 31st, 2017 will incur a $20 admin fee.

    Camp Hours: Full Day Session: 9am - 4pm. Half Day: 9am-12noon OR 1-4pm

    Camper Eligibility: Children entering grades K-7 in Fall 2017

    Before and After Camp Care: Early drop off (starting at 8:00 am) and late pick up (until 5 pm) available for an additional $50 per week per child.

    Sanskriti Summer Camp will include activities such as yoga, dance, music, cooking, desi sports etc. There are daily workshops based on weekly themes. This years weekly themes are TBD but themes from previous years were Indian landscapes & wild life, Indian architecture & monuments, Famous Indian personalities, life in Indian cities verses villages, festivals and such.

    In music, the camper's learn a fun Hindi song each week which is performed for parents on Friday evening. Similarly in dance, a Bollywood song dance is choreographed by a Sanskriti volunteer and performed by the kids on Friday. Note: Music and Bollywood dance will be offered only if we get volunteers.

    Additionally the campers enjoy S.T.E.M. activities, arts & crafts and Desi sports like kabbaddi, kho-kho, cricket, badminton etc.  We even had a professional table tennis player who represented India in common-wealth games stop by to impress the kids one year.  In cooking session, a vegetarian kid-friendly, nut free yet healthy item is cooked with the help of kids. This is a lot of fun for them. Again, we need volunteers for sports & cooking session each day.

    We accept limited number of kids each year since we want to give individual attention to our campers. NOTE: This year, the campers will be divided in two age appropriate groups for most of the activities. The camp is managed by a professional camp director with several years experience in managing such camps along with 3 assistants. In addition, a few teen volunteers as well as an adult Sanskriti volunteer is present most of the day.

    Teen Volunteers: This year, depending on the number of teens applying, there will be two shifts AM & PM Eligible teens are rising freshman/sophomores in high school. Please send an email if interested.

    Full Day

    Get the best rate of $250 per child per week ($300 per week for non-members) if you register by May 31st

    $300 per child per week ($350 per week for non-members) if you register by June 30th

    $350 per child per week ($400 per week for non-members) if you register after June 30th

    10% sibling discount. 

    Half Day

    $150 per child per week ($200 per week for non-members) if you register by May 31st  

    $200 per child per week ($250 per week for non-members) if you register by June 30th  

    $250 per child per week ($300 per week for non-members) if you register after June 30th

    10% sibling discount. 

    Refund/ cancellation policy:

    100% money back if the registration is cancelled before July 31st

    50% back after that until the start of the camp.

    After the camp starts, 25% refunded. 

    Families can keep their child's spot for the following year as an alternative to cancellation. 

    NOTE: Once registered, there will be no partial refund/credit issued if your child/children cannot attend the camp for all 5 days. Please refrain from requesting a partial refund. We appreciate your understanding.

    SANSKRITI SCHOOL will provide a nurturing environment for all children to gain knowledge and appreciate the rich and diverse cultures, heritage, and values of India in a secular environment.

    In the academic year 2017-2018 (September-June), the school is offering the following educational opportunities to children ages 5-15:

    • TIME: Sundays, 10:00-12:00
    • LANGUAGE (Hindi and Gujarati): 10:00-11:00
    • CULTURE: 11:00-12:00
    • ENRICHMENT CLASSES: 11:00-12:00 April-June
    • LOCATION: Community Center, 204 Hillside Avenue, Livingston, NJ 07039

    Our recommendation is for children to participate in both modules as language is an integral part of culture; however, they will have the option of participating in any one module of their choice.  For more information on the school, please click here

    $50 late fee per applicant will be charged (no exceptions please!)

    If a child is withdrawn from classes:

    Before school begins: 100% refund of fees

    First 2 weeks of school: 100% (minus $25 for administrative fee)

    No refund of fees after first 4 weeks of school.
